We had such strong support from Members of Federal Parliament, Carina Garland MP and Keith Wolahan MP. State Members of Parliament Paul Hamer MP and former Legislative Council President hon Bruce Atkinson. Mayor of the city of Whitehorse Denise Massoud, Deputy Mayor Andrew Davenport, Lions Club International district governors and directors Tony Benbow, Lyn Perera, Kim Low, David Cordell, Russell Edwards, Kumar Swaminathan, Keith Yates. Distinguished Leaders from the Asian business associations.
over 200 guests came together to celebrate our Club and to support its members and its ambitions. My ambition is for our club to serve as a bridge between east and west just like the ancient Silk Road in China served as a bridge and conduit between the east and west for over thousands of years.
We had a wonderful night of entertainment with the lion Dance, wonderful entertainment by SMG & singer Jourdain Wong.
We were also blessed to share this evening with the 2000 Sydney Olympic opening ceremony composer, Mr Chong Lim
The energy of this evening was truly auspicious and augurs well for the future of our club and its impact on our community.

Highlights of our very successful Box Hill Silk Road Lions Club Park Run to raise funds for kids with cancer. Hundreds of people turned up to show their support.
It was great see see dignitaries present like
Keith Wolahan, Mp Member for Menzies Andrew Davenport mayor of Whitehorse and president of CIKA, Sandra, and VP Ellen Webb.
A special thanks to my club members who volunteered to help us organise and run this event.
The purpose of our Lions club is to serve and to make our community a better place
And to support worthy causes
There could not be a more worthy cause than the Cancer in Kids Auxiliary (CIKA), supporting the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death of children in Australia. The overall survival rate for childhood cancer is over 80 if they can access appropriate treatment and care.
Our Park Run raised funds to help ensure that every child has access to the treatment and care they need.
And we are supported parents and carers of those children who experience cancer like Ellen Webb
I reminded all who participated in the run and walk that every step taken on this run / walk helped make a difference and helped make someone’s life better.
